Admission criteria and procedure

The laurea magistrale degree is the Italian equivalent of a master's degree. To attain your degree you must earn 120 CFU/ECTS in a two-year programme.

Admission criteria

You can apply for admission for the laurea magistrale program if you have a laurea degree or any title that is equivalent to a bachelor's degree that accounts for 180 CFU/ECTS.

Computer Science is a natural course of study for students with a bachelor in Computer Science but we welcome students from different areas of Science and Engineering.

Admission criteria are:

  • Bachelor degree including at least 50% of credits in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Physics, or Statistics
  • adequate knowledge of Computer Science and Math. Your background knowledge will be gauged through a test designed to evaluate whether you hold the minimal prerequisites deemed necessary for the track of choice
  • appropriate English level (B2 level or adequate knowledge assessed during the test)
  • have your title, or all the 180 ECTS/CFU requested by October 10, 2018

The aim at this stage is to check that you hold the minimal prerequisites deemed necessary to proficiently attend the program. Please send us an a email with the following requests and we will get in contact with you within one week:

  • One-line motivation for the track of your choice
  • copy of you BSc degree in PDF format

How your application was evalueted?

You will receive a pre-acceptance letter from us. Keep reading for the Pre-enrollment

Pre-enrollment

At this stage, you have got a pre-acceptance letter from us. The procedure depends on your citizenship and the country where you obtain your bachelor.

Bring the documents listed below to the Italian embassy or consulate nearest to you before July 20, 2018.

  1. Bachelor degree (original or certified photocopy)
  2. Official translation in Italian of 1.
  3. Certificate with the detailed subjects and exams taken to obtain the degree (original)
  4. Official translation in Italian of 3. (not needed if in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese)
  5. Syllabus (confirmed with the original stamp of the University on each page) of each exam included in the foreign curriculum.
  6. Official translation in Italian of 5. (not needed if in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese)

Keep in mind that the outcome of this stage is up to our national contact point and does not depend on us.

In case of positive outcome our administration (and you) will be notified that you have been pre-enrolled.

Enrollment, including payment of university fee, if due, will actually take place in the Fall.

The documents required to pre-enroll are:

  1. Bachelor degree (original or certified photocopy)
  2. Official translation in Italian of 1.
  3. Dichiarazione di valore (issued by the Italian embassy or Consulate in the country in which the Bachelor has been obtained)
  4. Certificate with the detailed subjects and exams taken to obtain the degree (original)
  5. Official translation in Italian of 4. (not needed if in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese)
  6. Syllabus (confirmed with the original stamp of the University on each page) of each exam included in the foreign curriculum.
  7. Official translation in Italian of 6. (not needed if in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese)

Keep in mind that pre-enrollment starts in June.

Application Procedure

You have to:

  • register to the UniGe portal
  • pre-enroll from June 4, 2018
  • present the application online by October 10, 2018
  • be graduated by October 10, 2018 or obtained all the CFU requested
  • pass the admission criteria
  • pass the prerequisites assessment

If the Admission Criteria and the prerequisites assessment are met, you have to confirm the application online and than you have to pay the first payment (regional duty) and eventually the second and third payment.

You are welcome to pre-enrol online from July. We encourage you to do it before October, when classes start. Actual enrolment, including payment of university fee, if due, will actually take place in the Fall.
